Randlett Community meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 6th , at 2:00 pm,. at the Blue Building.

 

NEWS UPDATE FROM THE UTE LANGUAGE COORDINATOR:

Ute Language Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th , at 1:00 pm, held at the Ute Senior Center.

We are looking for dedicated individuals that are willing to share ideas and help us implement a plan to revive Ute Language. Light snack will be provided.

ATTENTION TRIBAL MEMBERS: UPDATE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OFFICE:

Loan Application that are turned in at this time are going to be processed in January 2018, as we are very overwhelmed with Loan Applications, that are being processed on a first come, first serve basis.

HEALTH UPDATE FROM INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE:

I.H.S and Ute Indian Tribe have partnered to offer A FREE FLU VACCINATION CLINIC.

Thursday, October 5th or Thursday, October 12th , from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, held at the Fort Duchesne gym.

Please report any allergies when you check in.

UPDATE FROM UTE FAMILY SERVICES:

Ute Family Services is planning a Halloween Party

Wednesday, October 18th , 2017. From 4 – 6:00 pm. At the Ute Family Services Building.

This is in support of Domestic Violence Awareness.

OCTOBER IS “BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH:

Breast Cancer Mammovan, will be here Monday, October 9th from 12 to 3:00 pm, and Tuesday, October 10th from 8 to 12 pm.

The Mammovan will be here at the Ute Tribal Office in the parking lot area.

Vouchers are available for women that meet the income guidelines. Most health insurance will pay for prevention screenings.

Lots of great health resources and Incentives will be available.

UPDATES FROM PAINTED HORSE PROGRAM:

Quill Club: meets every Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 pm, at Painted Horse. Light snacks will be provided.

Food Demo’s: Topic: Pumpkin, October 6th , and October 20th .

Food Demo will be held at Painted Horse from 9:30 am.

ATTENTION: Painted Horse Program Is out of funding: for Dentures, Eyeglasses, Hearing Aids and Shoes.

However for those of you that have been approved, you have until November 30th to get your items.

October 7th –Domestic Violence Awareness Month: ATTENTION: Relay Runners, Runner will be running one mile at a time, relay is from Big Springs to Veterans Memorial Park.

Runner will be picked up at memorial park at 8:30 am, and run will begin from Big Springs at 9:30 am.

Food and Water will be provided during the relay. Lunch will be served at 2:00 pm.

Please sign-up at the office by Thursday, October 5th .

October 9th & 10th – Mammovan will be here. Please sign-up with Rozanna Health Education.

October 13th – Witch’s Fun Run, at 5:00 pm, From the gym, to the Plaza. Witch’s hats will be provided to all walkers/runners.

October 28th – Pumpkin Walk at 10:00 am from the gym, and there will be a Zumbathon at the gym starting at 1-4:00 pm, the same day.

Please be aware events may change. All our activities are free to the communities.

UTE TRIBE SENIOR NEWS:

October Activities:

The Exercising program will once again begin.

Oct. 16th – Winter Heating applications will be available.

Oct. 31st – Halloween Lunch and Activities.

Ute Tribe Senior Title V! Meals & Transportation (Grant)

The Ute Senior Center meal service is from 11:30 – 12:30 pm, Monday – Thursday. Except on holidays and/or tribal events. Remember there is a fee for those under 55 years of age, this includes all children.

The home delivered meals are for those Ute Seniors over 55 years of age and unable to leave their home. Home Bound Lunch delivery and drivers are in the field between 11:00-11:30 am to 1:00-2:00 pm. So if you are not going to be home due to appointments please call by 9:30 – 11:30 am.

All those needing transportation: must call ahead to schedule transportation, times from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday, except on Holiday/Tribal events.

Regular pick-up times for lunch to center starts around 10:30-11:30 am.

The Ute Senior Heating Program (Resolution 98-247)

For the upcoming 2017-2018, Ute Senior Winter Heating application is required this year and all heating bill must be submitted in person.

These applications will be available after October 16th, and the program will end on February 28th 2018. Each request is limited to ONE vendor and only three (3) requests, this includes fire wood requests.

2017 Ute Senior Center Winter Bazaar: is scheduled for December 6th & 7th , for 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, on both days. For more information contact: Ute Senior Arts & Crafts @ 725-4289, or 725-4286.

We have a new secretary, Samantha Thompson, she is still learning about our process here at the Ute Senior Program so be patient.

 

UPDATES FROM THE UTE TRIBE PROSECUTION DEPARTMENT:

October 2017, Domestic Violence Month, “No excuse for Abuse” Events of Awareness.

October 3rd – Ute Tribal Prosecution – Basic Law. Event will start at 5:00 pm. at the Tribal Auditorium. This will be a monthly class – Watch for schedule.

Dinner will be provided for participants.

October 16th – Ute Tribe Victim of Crime – Movie and Speaker, event will start at 9:00 am, in the Tribal Auditorium. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants.

October 26th Wednesday & Thursday: Ute Tribal VOCA, Health and Red Pine – Domestic Violence Awareness Conference – Speakers & Panels: Event will start at 8:30 am. Location TBA. Snack and lunch will be provided for participants.

Also: Red Pine – Teen Program and Activity:

This event will start at 1:00 pm at the Fort Duchesne Gym.

October 31st – Ute Tribe Head start Program: Trick or treat Activity: Event will start at 10:00 am, held at Tava-Ma-Wees Park. All Carnival activities is for everyone. Refreshments, and door prizes given. We hope to see you there!

All other activities are along Painted Horse schedule.

We have Free Development Evaluation for children, birth to 3 yrs. Old.

UPDATES FROM THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT:

Fall Carnival October 15th 2017. From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

$10.00 Wrist Bands with Unlimited Fun! Come celebrate Fall with the whole family.

Movie (TBA) following the Carnival at 5:15 pm.

There will be Pumpkin Carving Contest for all ages, Basketball shot game, Cake Walk, Iron Man Obstacle Course, 130 Obstacle Course, and many more activities.

UP-COMING CERTIFIED FOOD MANAGER TRAINNG:

Training is provided by the Indian Health Service Office of Environmental Health & engineering.

This one-day course is open to any Tribal members or individual working in or operating a food establishment in Tribal Communities who wished to obtain Nationally Recognized Certification in Food Safety Management, as required for food service operations. This course will provide Food Service Manages with a better understanding of the Food and Drug Administration’s 2013 Food Code and the requirements of the Indian Health Service.

Training Date: November, 15th 2017. From 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Held at the Ute Crossing Grill.

There is NO FEE for this course however, each participant is required to purchase a ServSafe Manager Book 7th edition with an exam answer sheet from the National Restaurant Association. Cost of the book and exam sheet is $70.30, plus shipping and Tax.

Classroom size is limited to 30 students. Advanced registration is required.

ATTENTION: SEARCH & RESCUE TEAM:

Search & Rescue Team is holding their next monthly meeting Saturday, October 14th at 3:00 pm.

Topic: Building better Communication. Meeting is held at their Command Post in Ballard, on the North side of Highway 40.

The team is inviting all Community Presidents to attend this meeting to help build better communication.

GRIEF SUPPORT DAY FOR PARENTS AND SIBLINGS:

Primary Children’s Hospital is offering a grief support day, free of charge, to parents and families who have experience the death of a child. This one day grief support offers a safe space to talk about your child and the grief your family is experiencing. You will meet other parents, and you will have the opportunity to share and learn with them. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Saturday, October 14th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Held at in Vernal, at the City Building at 374 East Main Street.
